Howdy folks! For those of you who don't know me (Probably most of you), I'm Derian, from Nan Belegorn, a Belegarth realm in Cedar Falls, IA.
I wanted to post an open invite to our event this year, Melcaorme VIII. We'll be using Belegarth rules, but if you're not aware, they're almost identical to Dagorhir's rules. There are a few differences, but if your weapons pass in Dagorhir, they'll almost assuredly pass at Melcaorme.
Mel is a very laid back, no drama type of event. We'd love for foam fighters of any kind to make the trip - no politics, no drama, just fighting and camaraderie.
WHEN: May 14-17th
WHERE: Ingawanis Boy Scout Camp, Waverly, IA (See directions below)
COST: $11
This event has camping and socializing Thursday night, fighting and socializing Friday night and fighting, feasting, and socializing Saturday night. Feast is a now legendary chili with fresh, unprocessed beef (from a fighter's family farm), along with fruit, cheese, bread, etc. There may also be a vegetarian option.
DIRECTIONS:
maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=moline,+il&daddr=Hilton+Ave,+waverly,+ia&geocode=&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=42.142404,-91.404989&sspn=1.388896,2.471924&ie=UTF8&ll=42.10026,-91.452942&spn=1.389834,2.471924&t=h&z=9
We use the East gate, off of Hilton Avenue. If by some mistake you end up at the main gate which is clearly labeled "Camp Ingawanis." You can either drive around the camp to get to the East Gate or through the camp and you'll eventually get to where we are.
Please note that if you chose to go through the camp there is a posted speed limit of 10 mph. This is partially because campers may be on the roads and partially because the roads are not always in the best repair.
There are showers on site for those who like taking them. Hopefully the showerhouse near to our site will be open, if it's not then it will be a bit of a hike.
Please feel free to let me know if anyone has any questions. We'd love to get some cross-game participation from our southern neighbors.
All that said, I should be at Gates of Summer next weekend and look forward to meeting you guys there.
