The reason that we set up a "cover charge" was precisely TO get people to donate to the bar. Yes, Nameless forks a ton of cash out of his pocket to get people schnockered every event. It is absolutely insane sometimes.
But, as has been a proven case in social situations outside of Dagorhir and any event that Dominion has ever ran (etc... etc...): The best way to get people to donate is to mandate a cover charge.
Really, is $2 really so much to ask? If you go donate booze, you are going to spend WAY more than that. If you want to donate, yes yes yes! But Dominion is currently waiting on a "Yes/No" from Nameless regarding this.
I *get* the idea. I support said idea, as I am all about being forthgiving among friends. I also support, fully and completely, the idea of a $2 cover charge to ensure that enough is raised to help cover some of the alcohol, including the transportation of it.
Can you see it from that point of view too?

Yes, I understand. And I think that it is a fine Idea for you guys to do.
But it's not related to the orginal topic of the thread, which was voluntatary donations, not required cover charges.
You guys wanting to do that is cool. I am just trying to get Foxy's idea off the ground.

It is most certainly appreciated when Dagorhirrim help each other out, no one is questioning that at all. I have been watching these posts since they started and possibly should have said something before, but as it appears to be getting out of hand, better late than never... I apologize for any confusion, but currently Dominion is in negotiations with Morder to reimburse them for a large part the alcohol they will be providing, however as it is before the event I do not see an issue with collecting donations for Morder in addition to our own. The only thing I could say is that obviously there is the possibility that they may be over-compensated for their wares. I personally think that would be fantastic as it is known that they provide wonderful drinks and parties at our events and it would be a way to give back, however for those that are tight on funds right now, please keep this in mind As stated, the reason for the cover charge is to help Dominion as we are providing them healthy compensation and we want to continue to put on awesome events, which these days unfortunately with everything wonderful in life it seems, does cost a lot of money... I want to address that I am happy to see our fellow Dag denizens watching out for each other, and hopefully together we can have an awsome event this coming month!

Wow, who got butt-hurt over the idea of Voluntary Donation? I mean some people travel Hundreds of miles with fixed expenses, or have scrambled to get together the required money, and sometimes, they would rather use that "just 2 dollars" on somthing else, or want to directly contribute,(IE already bought the booze and wishes to share.) I think this Voluntary Donation thing is great! i also think that the original post was misunderstood. >.<' darn not having mental power: telepathy!

Hey guys. I'm just gonna go ahead and throw this out here. Ya wanna give Mordor alcohol and/or money to help pay for whatever? Sweet effing action. I've done it for years. Ask Nameless or Wolf how many times I ran into town and got them alcohol, brought what I had from home or whatever. Its a great thing. You got alcohol, bring it. You got money, hand it the eff over for some awesome guys that I happen to care dearly for. As for the "donation/cover charge" thing, I was huge on this one. When I took responsibility for the party in the grove, I said hey.. who makes a better party than Mordor? I spoke with Wolf.. and consequentially Nameless... via Wolf(arse has never given me his personal info to contact em ) I contacted the council and told them we could try and get the bar in the Sacred Grove for the party.. my reasoning on it? I want people to effing party together. I understand, you may not like the restrictions set in place, you may not like that handing over $2, you may not like having to go from the Sacred Grove to your camp in an inebriated and/or tired state. Whatever. I want people together. When I go to Dag, I have friends.. everywhere. All kinds of groups all over the country and rather than my arse having to run to 10 different camps. I like having us in one spot. I want to make a party that bring everyone in, not that brings everyone to Mordor and to the Sacred Grove and to this party and that party... eff that. I want us together as much as possible. I want the entertainers I'm getting for us to entertain all. Not just the few who come over. I want us to not be Dominion and Ravenwood and Centrawoven and Mordor. I want us to be Dagorhir. That being said, I think everybody needs to step back off this and chill the eff down. You wanna hand Mordor money and/or booze. You do it. I hope they use it, I hope you get to feeling pretty damned nice that night off it You wanna come party with us in the grove on Saturday, you do it. Hell if your arse is broke and cannot afford $2. Come to me. I won't buy a dang soda this week so you can come party. I want this to be a success. I want more than anything for people to enjoy themselves and come visit. You wanna have a party in your camp that day, fine. Try not to make it too rowdy and at least stop by the Grove to say hi to us others. Please guys, I'm not asking a lot out of this. Just, for my sake, or if that's not a good enough reason, for everyone who wants to have a good time at this event's sake, show your face in Sacred Grove for a little bit. No more political lines, no more us and them BS. Like I said. This party isn't Dominion. It isn't Mordor. It isn't even Wolf(though his arse will be there) Its Dagorhir. (This post may be a little back and forth.. trying to write it at work between calls. ) Also: Quit trying to push each other.. seriously. We are not toddlers and there's a whole lotta temper tantrums on this thread...-.-

Your exquisite use of almost-swear-words has left me speechless (though I can still type apparently) and has inspired me to come to this party

Rhia had a good point on this party thing and that is togetherness. Here is the problem I have with this Grove party, no one said underagers would be drinking but I got a whole lotta Effin friends that are under 21 that can't even get in there to spend time with friends and it seems like on party night they get treated like a plaque cause there under age. That aint Effing right now is it. Put a big ugly black X on ther hand let'em in to have fun u catch'em toss'em. I think its very hypicritical for some people on this thread to mention not so much underage drink but Illeagle drug use. Look all i want is to get drunk play with fire and be around all my friends under age or not. Is that to much to ask and donation Hell why not.

Odds are the reason illegal drug use was mentioned is most likely due to the fact that we have had problems with people imbibing in a very non-discreet manner, and let's be honest here we are using some one elses land for this. I'm not sure if you are aware of the laws pertaining narcotics, but the law is pretty harsh, and in some cases the land owners property can be forfeit, even if they are unaware that there are people using, in this case we would be considered their guests and this could be VERY bad for them if drug use is found on their property. So it's best if people don't imbibe this one weekend instead of ruining one of the best bloody effing places ne could hope for for our events!

Ok here is the deal as far as I know. If you are under 21 you will be allowed into the grove. You will not be allowed into the bar part of the grove. we are using a invisible ink hand stamp system to control who is allowed into the bar part of the area. If you are under 21 don't bring your own alchol in to the grove. We usually try and have water and soft drinks for those under 21 and those that don't drink. We are trying to make this the greatest dag party in the mis-west. Thanks to Rhia and Lady christobel we will fire breathing and belly dancing and more, done by profesionals. Thanks to the awsome guys in the AOM we will have a truely great bar. I will be wearing a pair of ladies grandma underwear on my head to fullfill the challenge I took last year. We are compensating the AOM a pre-determined amout of money. When we came up with the idea for the party in the sacred grove we wanted it to be a PARTY. One were everone could get together and have a good time. Unfortunatly this has rarely happened. Weather has been the greatest deterant....Aster

Yea.. Mortalis.. the 21 and under just aren't allowed in the BAR area. So they can't grab stuff off the bar, but they can be in the grove. No one's not allowing that. Calm down, buddy I got 20 year old friends too. Hehe. The bar area is all of about... 20 square foot? We're fine. Morals, unfortunately I don't have the ability to answer that one, but if you don't hear from a council member shortly, I'll find out for ya PS Mortalis. Dork, like I'm gonna let anyone say under 21 you can't party..
