What is Dagorhir?
Dagorhir is a full-contact medieval combat society that uses safely padded weaponry to simulate real combat. All weapons are checked for safety prior to fighting, and members follow a set of rules called the Manual of Arms when fighting (for more information on the Manual of Arms click here dagorhir.com/dagorhir/Rules.htm).
What is Stormwrath?
Stormwrath is a realm or chapter in Dagorhir. We are an organization that hosts Dagorhir practices and events, including battles, feasts, and instructional events.
Does it hurt?
According to the Manual of Arms, a safe weapon is one that will not "result in bruises, break bones, or knock out teeth if an unarmored person is struck with a full-strength swing." As such, the weapons are always tested for safety before any practice or event. Nonetheless, as Dagorhir is a full-contact sport, there yet remains a chance for injury, much like football or hockey.
How do I join?
Come to one of our practices or events, sign a waiver, and give it a try! That's right, it's as simple as that.
What if I don't want to fight; is there something else I can do?
Definitely! Dagorhir is not restricted only to combat. There are plenty of other aspects to the hobby, from making weapons, to leather-work and steel work, to sewing and making garb, writing stories... the list goes on.
If i die is it over?
It depends on the specific game were playing... W fight with foam swords, ok. but within that hobby there are a number of different games to play (i.e. protect your teams king, or capture the other teams flag, or plant your flag in the other teams base, kill the other teams king ect.) and the scenarios for the different games have different stipulations on when you can come back to life (res) by touching the cone, tree or whatever we designate as your teams 'res point'
I don't have any weapons or garb, how do i participate?
We've got lots of loaner weapons and garb. all it takes is one battle to determine if Dagorhir is for you or not, and usually after someone first experience, they're all about making their own weapons and garb. We're inventing a realm out of thin air, so we're prepared to have lots of new people, with little to no gear.
we eventually hope to get to the point that we will sell the weaons, garb, and armor, for those who really like fighting, but don't want to invest the time into making their own gear.
How do i know when i'm dead?
Dagorhir is a sport where participants fight with foam padded safety equipment made to reflect medieval weaponry. The sport's combat is hard hitting and fast-paced, governed by a set of easy-to-learn rules, and requires a level of skill and aggression that challenges its participants to be physically fit.
Gameplay is overseen by Heralds, or referees. In the most basic sense, hits are scored by landing a blow with sufficient force to any of the four target-zones: torso, legs, arms or head. For safety reasons, the head is an illegal target for melee weapons, but is a legal target for missile weapons like arrows and javelins. A player is considered 'dead' after a torso or head hit, or any combination of two extremities.
I have some more questions; how do I find out more?
Please message me anytime, i am always happy to help new warriors embark on the journey into legend
