One of the guys at Knights of the Fallen has alot of extra leather, I was thinking about makeing leather armor. How thick does it have to be?

If I'm not mistakin its 3/16". It takes two to three layers (depending on which type you choose. I'm useing that leather for jugs, satchels, and any thing that doesn't have a thickness rule.
As for armor I would go to Springfield leather company in springfield next to Cosmic fish. You can get a half hide for about $100. That's about 25 square feet.
There is a million and one things to still do with the thin leather so you should go get a trunk load or a truck load of it and just have fun crafting.
Have fun and I will see you at practice.

It only takes one layer if you get the 10-12oz thickness leather from Tandy. That's what I use on all my armor and it's never failed anywhere.

Yes, leather armour needs to be 3/16'ths of an inch thick, or 5mms if you wanna go metric... -which i don't really support, personal preference- this can be achieved by stacking leather on top of each other, or if its thick enough, one piece by itself.
