I quite like that last one. -shameless LOTR nut-
As I said, I'll post one of mine. So here it is.
I got my inspiration from the song One Blood by Terrance Jay. It appeared in the movie Green Street Hooligans. Its a really good movie and a rather touching song. And if you do see the lyrics, you'll note I did run rather close. But mine is for a cause not my own. Hard to describe.
And the one little piece at the end, Eire! Is to show my support in the country of my forefathers. Hope you like it....
As I look out to the killing fields
and watch men reap what they have sown
when the fields forever burn
and sword flays flesh from bone
I cried out to my brothers
Rally to me! Ere they die
With each one felled, I feel the blow
our cause with in our breast simply smothers
I stand like a hero
foes at my feet, broken and torn
and through the smoke
through the mud now mixed with blood,
I stood by the river
that ran red with sorrow
here in the killing fields
death has no name, no face
it cares not for creed nor race
I stood by my brothers
as the enemy came as a flood
we stand as one man, one life, as one blood
The ashes slowly fall
and land on my tongue
and here in this field
only the dead are forever young
Fourteen people on a Sunday
in the free Derry air
became one blood
as their fate they all shared
Martyrs to the innocent
the soldiers wrath was spent
we fight for our freedom
a resistance it is called
I stand at by this river
as ashes fall like snow
and I am apalled
brother fights brother
and their lives are nothing
until we are once more standing togather
as one man, one life, as one blood
until then do not speak to me of glory
for we are many yet we are few
until we stand as one again.
Eire!
