The rain was falling hard in the south wetlands of Dominion. The new moon reigned upon the damp greens of the everglade. Shadows are the strongest during this time, the moon can't cast them back into hiding. The heavy rain helped keep it darker than ever, you would have guessed the Night Mother herself was upon the land. Then again maybe she was....
A boy of thirteen by the name of Ellioyth, huddled on the ground under a wet blanket. Ellioyth's family was part of a sect of worshipers called the Keepers of Yerra. Yerra was the ancients' goddess of life force. Yerra was the one who heralded souls into the living bodies and lead them to peace after they had had their time in mortal form. After many years of savagery and heresy few still knew her as a true god. Many regarded Ellioyth's kin as extreme cultists, praising a dead god of old.
Ellioyth may have been part of a dying breed but he was chosen by his people . Before his birth the elder of the clan was given a vision. A vision of a white rose in the middle of a glade withering. From the petals of the flower grew an oak sapling standing small among the trees. A storm of great fury would try to blow down the sapling as much as it could. By the protection of the oak trees the sapling would grow into the largest oak in the forest over time. This was a symbol of great rebirth. Ellioyth was surely crafted by Yerra herself.
Upon his birth Ellioyth was tattooed with the incantation, "Rebirth will be his duty", written in the handwriting of his goddess.
So Ellioyth grew and was taught what a young man should learn. Not only the ways of life... but how to be a future savior. On this night of shadows his destiny would begin. The white rose was about to wither...
