Whisper, I was wondering what methods you use for your sword cover. I know you use two side pieces and one over the top piece, but I don't know much about your method beyond that. Do you use a sewing machine, hand sew (if so, what stitch?), what weight cloth do you typically use, that sort of thing. I'm trying to upgrade my sword covers, and I know yours are really awesome.

I normally use 60/40 broadcloth and I machine-sew the cover. Here's the basic method:
1. Rough-cut the flat panels - width of blade + 1" by length of blade + whatever, where whatever is 0 if you plan on taping the cover to the blade at the bottom, or where whatever is 2.5 - 3" if you plan on making a drawstring casing.
2. Rough-cut the edge panel - thickness of blade + 1" by total length of edge (hilt to tip and back again) + whatever.
3. Lay the panel centered on the blade, with about 0.5" of fabric hanging over the tip. Use chalk, pencil, or Sharpie to trace the outline of the blade onto the fabric. Repeat with 2nd panel and do something similar with the edge panel.
4. Pin the edge panel to one of the flat panels. Be sure to pin ON THE MARKING LINES! On the curve of the tip, pin frequently. For best results, start pinning from the tip.
5. Sew along the marking lines using a straight stitch.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to attach the second flat panel.
7. Turn the cover right-side-out and put it on your sword.
When pinning and sewing, I like to start from the tip and go down one side, then pin and sew down the other side. Alles klar?

Alles Klar! Thanks, your method is going to help alot ;D I'll have to pull out the sewing machine and get going on it tomorrow. I need to cover a katana, but I'm pretty sure your instructions should work, even though the blade is curved. I can't think of why it wouldn't work. I'll let you know how it goes
