I'm gonna give a big [glow=red,2,300](I should use a better choice of words)[/glow] to anyone supporting the SS style moderation of the national Dagorhir boards. It's completely asinine. You guys can't just tell people not to talk about something, and not tell them why. One of my favourite bands has a six word, 30 second song I'd like to quote to describe this situation. "Reasons not rules makes us strong." As for voting Dominus or any other Dagorhir internet nazi out of power, it's not gonna happen at anything but a snails pace. Most of the people that get to vote on members of high war council are all in Aratari. That's why there hasn't really been a non-Arartari Dagorhir president. In fact I believe a large portion of the business council is Gestiguiste. And I'd side with Dominus too if I followed a [glow=red,2,300]Allegory Jesus Lion [/glow]and fought with Rome at battles. Favoritism perhaps?

I think this thread is going down a road it doesn't need to be. We all know hte Nat'l boards are overly-strict. That is why these other boards exist all over the net.
but
BUT
These boards are not meant to be a place to trash people, either to thier face or behind thier back.
I doupt Dominus was the one to ban Kang. There are a number of mods now, some are alittle ban happy and edit happy. I have not met Dominus, or even really had a internet conversation with him, but I have talked with Mirelle quite a bit. She is a decent person and a real nice girl. That was not called for.
As to why Kang was re-banned, if you are banned and create a new profile, that kinda defeats teh purpose of banning.
That being said. I think the idea of permanent banning is stupid. Unless you are threatening actual physical harm to someone, I think bans should be a limited thing. Like a month or so. This gives them time to think through wether they really want the hassle of the nat'l boards. (yes I said they are a hassle). But, a perma ban does nothing but breed hatred and seperation.

Do those boards give an option of like.. partial banning? I know proboards gives that kind of an option. (Like banning a member for x days)
I understand the national boards and their mods decision to try and quell any questions about other games... but so many new members don't understand why those rules are in place - and inevitably get banned because of it. Which leads them to look for a different game to play.. which is exactly what the boards are trying to avoid by disallowing discussions/mentioning other games.

You have too light of a touch and nobody knows or cares what the rules say. You have too heavy of a touch and nobody wants to listen to you anymore. I hope they find a happy medium soon. I don't frequent those boards often for the sheer fact that you have to rethink everything you say to make sure it doesn't host one of a hundred bannable offences. I mean, seriously, you can't even post an email address that isn't dagorhir.com.
I have these boards, and these boards tell me what I need to know and allow me to convey to others what I feel they need to know also. I don't care about the rest of the world, 'cause they don't come to Missouri's events.

Before I start ranting again I want to say I'm friends with most of the mods on the national boards and they are trying to fight the system, and I support Alric, Jari, Oberon and Blackhawk in their endeavors. I'm sorry if I offended you Orrin. I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings, simply vent my frustration about many people's unfair and unjust treatment. There is nothing wrong with promoting your game on your board, but Dagorhir doesn't. If Shatterhaze wanted to post a (theoretical) shattrhze@mirkwood.com for new members to contact him, his address would be censored. What kind of autistic logic is that?

I never said I agree with the rules. But, the only thing that pissed me off was the shot at Mirelle and implying she was a "yes man" for Dominus.
Yes, I think Dominus takes himself to seriosuly, and I think the rules are very facist. But lashing out at someone who has nothing to do with the rules is un-acceptable to me.
No, Solusar, I am not offended, and no, I don't Hate you. Black is to sexy to hate. I just want everyone to keep in mind, these boards are for discussing the game, and having fun. Venting is constructive, but taking it on on someone is not.
I don't think that kang got banned for talking about SCA, becuase everyone talks about them. More likely he was banned once they realized that he had been banned previously and "snuck back in" as it were. I don't think that was right. He should not have been re-banned, unless he actually did something wrong.
As I stated before, perma-bans should be a last resort thing. If you meantion bele, (since it is against the rules, not because I have a prob with it) then you should be e-mailed/pmed a warning. I know Mods can still PM. Further infractions of the rues would result in a temporary banning followed by probation.

$ people from my realm REFUSE to go to the Main boards because of the facist censorship there. Hell, I ALMOST got banned for even bringing up the fact that Kegg wanted to bury the hatchet and try to make peace with Dag. I FULLY expected it actually but I had to bring it up. OF COURSE it was quashed by the Big D himself. It is also about bad blood and not letting by gones be by gones. And honestly it just makes us look bad because the more I learn about the schism, the more that is made clear about how and WHY it happened. Forkbeard got banned because he is a very respected veteran of Bel. He has the same ideas and feelings that I do when it comes to the two games and it really upsets me to see ANYONE involved with foam fighting banned from an INFORMATIONAL site. I kind of agree with Solusar, but not as far as calling Mirelle a "yes woman." (Rant Over)

I'm gonna give a big love you to anyone supporting the SS style moderation of the national Dagorhir boards. It's completely asinine. You guys can't just tell people not to talk about something, and not tell them why. One of my favourite bands has a six word, 30 second song I'd like to quote to describe this situation. In fact I believe a large portion of the business council is Gestiguiste. And I'd side with Dominus too if I followed a lovely , lion based on Jesus and fought with Rome at battles. Favoritism perhaps? And this is one of the reasons I like the National boards, people don't get away with such outright rudeness. I have always belived that a disscussion can be handled with civil and intellegent language. Instead of the rude, harsh, and down right mean stuff I see on many other boards. I refuse to talk to any people who would say such things to someone who was just trying to have an intelegent disscusion. Have a good day Solusar, I will leave this thread to finish however it will, knowing that I am the better man.

Not everything can be sugar coated in reality. Sometimes the truth hurts, but you still need to hear it. I may be overly crass most of the time, but that only drives my point home. I've been fighting Dagorhir for nine years now (I chose Dag over Bel when the split happened) and I'll keep telling people this is my primary game, but when everyone says this year is the one for recruiting and you can't recruit on your own boards, there's a problem. In fact, when people do things for the betterment of the game (build a map 1000 times better than Lykos') to promote recruitment and they get banned, there's a bigger problem. No, I'm not trying to stir up a bunch of trouble "just because". If there's a problem that needs fixed, everyone has to know about it before the change can happen. Change occurs from the inside out, then ripples out for everyone to benefit from. We need change. Thank you, these rants have been brought to you by your local Division II spawning pit. The game.

Okey dokey, and now that we're ALL over-reacting about something that, at the end of the day, means nothing, let's stop this.
Kang--yeah, I totally agree, dude. The main boards over-react to a lot of situations and have a lot of stupid rules. I had a few people ask me to make the MWDF "No-Bel, No-SCA, No-Amt," but I declined. I think those sorts of rules ask people to ignore the elephant in the middle of the room. I'm sorry they banned you.
Mirelle--good job on being logical, bad job on trying to use logic on a group of angry people. I recommend that you look into the Wizard's First Rule, and follow it closely.
Solusar--whoa! *Sighs* Please tame your language. And please don't take such hearty offense to people who appear to disagree with you. *Laughs* And who cares if she is a "Yes-Man"? Calling her out for it makes you a "Hater".
Now, everybody play nice or get out.
