I saw a couple of smirks at War Council when it came around to Wolfgang and I for introductions, and I said "Pointed Heart" instead of our chapter's name. I've considered a great many times changing the name to simply the common translation, but it wouldn't make sense for the wood elf tribe to submit to human conveniences, so it stays the way it's always been.
So I give you a lesson in pronunciation. Unless otherwise noted or the word follows a separate rule, the accents are always on the second syllable. Elven, especially the wood elf dialect, has several vowels that stay constant in their pronunciation. A's are pronounced like "ah," o's are long as in "low," e's are short as in "head," i's are pronounced like an English "ee," and oo signifies the sound "aw." Obviously the letters chosen to represent the sounds of Elven were not based off the common of the 17th Age; more than likely the Old Tongue or something that came before. (PS By Elven, I'm talking Pahmoten Elven, not Sindarin or Quenya)
Thus, our chapter's name is pronounced:
eh-FOH-low-mah ee-SEH-maw
Our battle cry is a different topic altogether, just to make it sound more badass.
Leader: eh-foh-low-MAH[/i] Response: EE-SEH-MAAAAAW!
Another side note: Sirilay is in fact not a wood elf. She's the equivalent of a high elf (called Cyran Elves in Pahmoten) that just likes the woods. She's considered a student of the tribe (though a full member of the chapter).

You're struggle with the pronounciation of your chapter sounds like expolaining my Urkzimmuthi skin color. We are grey skinned, but the paint we use has a blueish hint to it. We always hear "So, why are you blue?"
We stopped at a gas station on the way home from Gates of Summer, and the Attendant asked why Bojac was blue, like 7 people said unanimously, "Actually he is grey" as if that explained everything.

Kinda like my explaining the difference in being a wolf brother and a werewolf - both of which my character is - Wolf brother means I can talk to wolves and have senses like them.....Werewolf means I can be one. Simple to me, often difficult for others to grasp.

Loving the explanations. Many thanks for sharing, and for carving out more niches that our Game brings to light
