That was an awesome good time! A HUGE HUGE thank you to everyone that volunteered and helped us out. I can not say it enough we appreciate all the help that we get and could not do it with out you all. We are always looking into ways to make events better, if you have any suggestions send a PM or email myself at ladyfaraday@gmail.com Edit: Congrats to Sir Fafnir and Lady Krystal! First, I would like to say that I had a blast once again, and I cannot wait until Gates. As far as I know, all of my fellow Havenors loved it as well. I'd just like to mention that there was an incident with one of our underaged members getting drunk at the Mordor party on Friday night, that has stirred up a lot of discussion on our realm forums, and I feel that You guys really have a right to be part of the conversation. (It's not a blame game or a flame war, just an open discussion that calls into question some of the attitudes we have towards partying here in the midwest) If you want to know how events might be improved, feel free to check out our boards' discussion on the topic and see what some of our members have to say. (Some of the posts are older, I think Orrin has already addressed some of these things, just wanting to let Dominion in on the discussion) gatesofhaven.forumotion.net/general-discussion-f5/wotif-vi-after-chat-t546.htmgatesofhaven.forumotion.net/general-discussion-f5/underage-b-t558.htm#6440Also, I'd like to re-iterate how much fun I (we) have had at Wars and Gates' and how much we all appreciate the work that gets put into to such a great event. We can all talk about how we would improve things, but when it comes down to it, you guys are the ones that make it happen. Thank you all once again, and I look forward to enjoying many more Dominion events in the future.

Wow that was certainly a lot to read. There were some good points in there.
-underage drinking- I whole-heartily agree there is too much underage drinking. We do NOT support or encourage under-age drinking. We have the different colored bands and courtesy patrols that we try to catch it as we can. As you all have seen, we have a lot of land to cover and simply can not cover it all. We were very thankful when many peoples offered to help and can always need more help. We will definitely take volunteers, just find someone in silver and we can get you pointed in the right direction. Or if your group would be willing to RUN courtesy patrol that would be wonderful as well!
That being said, you can not expect anyone to baby sit these folks. I would imagine if these underage folks are part of your group you would watch over them. You can not blame Mordor, Dominion, or any other group for someones behavior. The group does not make the individual behave like "drunken idiots" they do it all by themselves. Threatening to not come out to any more events because some people partake too much that may not even be in the realm hosting the event is counter-productive. I have been to MANY events in the close to 7 years I have been in Dag. Its not specific to any one group or even Dagorhir.
Again we are open to suggestions and offers of help, but goodness people lets be productive in our discussions....
-battles- It was stated on the Haven boards but I'll state again. The person that was going to run battles had some things unexpectedly pop up and could not do it. The people running the battles did not expect to run them and all things considering I have heard good things. We would love if you have input or would like to run battle(s) for Gates let us know!
Unfortunately we may have the mind set, in the past, to have Dominion people running things that way our lovely guests can enjoy themselves. But goodness these events are getting so big, we can do that anymore. And this is what we ran into this time. The original person's expected circumstances were on short notice (they always seem to be) and the people that ran battles had already volunteered to run the bar. My husband is one of those people that ran those battles on Saturday. He ran battles until 5:30 when there was so few people to fight they were having difficulties getting battles started. I apologize that people find it offensive how battle was called but its no earlier then usual and in fact with the luck with weather we have it was a lot later then usual.
-the princess- I don't see what was offensive about the doll. She had a duct tape bikini under a very respectable dress to cover up the naughty bits, a wig to cover her head, and duct tape over her mouth to make her even more presentable. You see more nudity with naked barbies then you did on that doll.
-dry camps- This is a marvelous idea. If you don't want booze in your camp, make a sign stating so. Or if you have a camp that would be willing to give water and crackers have a flag that will show it. Heck maybe even have a medic flag if you have one. My unit camp is definitely NOT dry (especially when it rains) and is off the main path but we have a medic and would not say no to someone needing help. (Gods know we have all been there done that ^.^)
Thank you again to everyone that volunteered to run the event. I had a pleasant time.
Thank you Angus for posting those links. Its always great to get input from people (even if I didn't agree with some it personally ^.^)

lady faraday i give you props for being calm about this and being so nice while i do agree with what you said i went and read the haven boards and i was around when he drank it shounds as tho they want to blame everyone but him and if i rember right "since i dnd not darnk hardly at all at war since it was my gfs 2nd event and is not use to me drinking i kept it dry" he took part in drinking willing not made to or done to him tho he is under age wich i doubt anyone was aware of he took himself into a camp full of partying and drinking and learnd a lesson. i makes me sad to see dus bashed cuase someone from a diff ralme messed up and give dus props for trying to fix it but still think that the blame stands mostly with the person that drank like that.

as far as battles go if anybody diddent like them then my advice is to step up and run some yourself. i filled in on short notice to run them and tried to do stuff to make everybody happy but i apparently failed. im prety tired of all the complaining lately about battles. if we change anything to make someone happy somebody else complains. comments like "thats what we get for having the Myrkridian Infantry run battles" isint verry motivating so dont worry i think think i will be running any more battles for a whyle. all the people who have been complaining at me can do it themselves, im done.
as far as underage drinking goes, the sanctioned bar in the grove checked Ids and we had people roaming in the crowd to cut down on underage drinking so before you throw the blame on us dont think we diddent do our job. the party mentioned was in a camp and was not ran by event staff. my solution to this is to check ALL IDs at the door to any party in any camp where there is going to be alot of people and put a large black X on thie forehead of anybody under 21 that wants to enter so they and everybody else knows that they are underage so there is no mistaking it. then it is thier choice to go into an area that there is obvious drinking. IMO the blame on an underage person at an event geting drunk should rest on the GUARDIAN and the PERSON. it was thier choice to drink whatever they did. IT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EVENT STAFF TO BABBYSIT PEOPLE! if you bring an underage person to an event a waiver has to be signed by someone stating that THEY are responsible for that person.
if you have complaints about the "sex toy" point them at me. thought it would be amusing and that it would be funner than having a person be a hostage because that person does not get to fight. she was fully clothed and great lenghts were taken to make shure there was nothing exposed that would offend anybody. nobody had ever "done" anything with it so it wasent a sex toy but a prop. ive seen girls/women on the battlefield wearing WAY less than she was. SORRY MY BAD aparently not everybody shares my sense of humor.
so here are some points to remember -instead of complaining about battles try to help make them better in a productive way. -be responsible for your own people -dont go into mordor without expecting to get intoxicated -dagorhir events are not church camp

Right on Kaine, right on. I think I agree completely with almost everything you said. "Dagorhir Events are not church camp!" F'ing classic! LOL

While I agree, its not church camp, there are certain lines that shouldn't be crossed. The doll, not my favorite, but no worse than the love goat that was toted around KCD about 6 years ago. The drinking really is starting to bother me though, I thought that when I left it might change, it only seems to have gotten more accepted. Offering booze to a 14 year old kid, having sex on the paths, and being a drunken lout, not cool in my book. I know that part of that is just me though, I don't drink/smoke, and I'm not going to freak out if someone else does but I would like to go to an event where fighting is the focus and not getting shitfaced with the boys.
Personally, since I can see I'm not the only one feeling like this, I think I'll search out the dry camps in future events and see how all that goes.

Yes, I am also glad I am not the only one to feel the drinking is getting out of hand.
