I may be wrong and I'd be willing to admit it but I thought the purpose of the MWDU wasn't about having private closed door meetings. I thought it was about everyone having a say and being able to see what was going on in the midwest. Who gets to be a planner? Who is giving out the password and why is it so exclusive? Is it Realm leaders? Previous event planners? Unit Leaders? Who are the MWDU event planners?
I was under the impression that MWDU event planners were the people who are in or wish to be in the MWDU and are planning an event. So if someone outside of those boards wants to plan or is planning an event then why the password? Because it clearly states on the info about the sub board "No you will not get the password" So Who exactly is in charge of the password?

I believe Disraeli (as the forum admin) would be in charge of the password protection.
I understand the desire for it, so that random interjections don't clutter up what may be designated as meaningful planning... but password protecting it I don't think would be the way to go about it. Perhaps an elevated posting privilege, where only people who are working on coordinating the next big event (ie, Gates) had the only posting privileges? Then those of us who are interested, or potentially backup planners (lord knows I come equipped to every event with enough to run troll and weapons check on my own xD) could see the status of varying aspects of the event.
I mean, I have little knowledge over a lot of these aspects now that I'm realm-less.. so I'm really in the dark as far as what all is going on. I know lots of information has been passed around via realm leadership.. but what about those of us who just simply want to see the sport grow as a whole in the region?

Ok, from my understanding there is a password to stop any cluttering messages. from my understanding it is not able to make a board where you can only allow some members to post. Only my understanding. Everyone who will be involved in running this event will be given the password. it is just a way we can work in a web forum format rather than e-mail or facebook or ect... it is not a attempt to shut anyone out, but just a way to make sure things stay on topic and orderly.
I don't mind people in there helping with ideas, just need to make sure things stay on topic and going to make the best event possible. (This just being my opinion)
And for the info part on not getting the password, probably just a joke.

It is possible to make a forum read-only for the general populace. You can give posting rights exclusively to people set as staff members (and could add/delete members from a MWDU staff list accordingly as each event comes around). The only problem I could see is that there would be the risk of potentially unwanted extras from other staff members on the boards. (Of course, as to my knowledge that'd only be the main 3 staff members.. Dizzy, Eldrin, and Skeith)
It'd be a tedious process to perform, and password protecting it is easily the most time-efficient solution. I understand Velia's concern though.

I completely understand, i am just trying to say this is not a attempt to shut anyone out just keep things going in the correct direction. I have no problem if people that are going to put forth good, knowledgeable, and productive input have the password.

If that is the Case, then how come I , as security, dry camp, and assistant medic, do not have the password? Oh and also helping run battles.

I don't know if anyone has it yet xD
I mean, I'd assume that the password would be divulged to the heads of the event (Fafnir and Logan) and distributed through them afterward as they get people set to help them in various instances.

I just wanted to throw in my cp as a global mod. I was not told about a board change and have no access to theses boards. As a reasoning for not wanting discussions muddied up. I believe that to have poor backing. I have not seen any productive threads in this section of the forums go a stray. Have some dignidy this isn't the National Boards for Khorne's sake.

By the very virtue of it being password protected you are leaving people out. I am not asking for the password because I have not done anything to help run an event even when I volunteered. I do however think Krystals idea of a read only forum has potential.
Say P1 and P2 have similar skill sets and P1 has access to the protected forums and is taking on too much responsibility and P2 has no idea what needs to be done but would like to help. Opening up the forum would allow P2 to see what needed to be done and give him/her a chance to volunteer. With a closed forum set up as it is P2 might never even hear that P1 needs help. P1 could potentially get burned out or get upset and not want to help plan again. So now the planners are down P1 and don't have anyone to replace him/her while P2 is still over there not knowing their skills are wanted and needed.
I think Skeith also has a point the thread for DT1 stayed mostly on topic and it was Rhia herself who posted an image for lulz.
I simply balk at the idea of the turn MWDU seems to be taking as a private exclusive group of people that not everyone knows and people on the outside may not know who or how to contact those on the inside.

The titling of it as the MDWU planning council is a misnomer. It really is more like the Gates/War planning council, and its for people who have a direct hand in that.
You will be informed as to what is happening, as will everyone, once it is figured out. I will make sure of it. If the people in charge need help, they will ask for it. If you have any questions, you should ask them.
