To please the people, an encore!
Dark Tides Treaty Slave Auction
Rules and Regulations
Sellers
-Must have registered the slave at the registration booth before the slave auction begins
---Dark Tides is an in-character event, meaning that you capture slaves based on your character‘s actions and perceptions. However, the captured slave must be able to “make his mark” (sign his name, write an X, etc.) in order to register the slave for auction.
-Receives 50% of selling price of slave; other 50% goes to the Auction House (Dark Nobility Slave Trade)
-May set a “reserve price” on the slave; established minimum that the potential buyer must meet before the slave can be sold/bought.
-If a person offers himself as a slave, he will keep 50% of his selling price. 50% will be kept by the Auction House (Dark Nobility Slave Trade)
Buyers
-Must have cash-on-hand (as defined by the in-game economy) at the time of the bidding.
-Must agree to register the slave with the Auction House (Dark Nobility Slave Trade) after purchase at the registration booth.
-Must agree to not force any slave to perform non-consensual sexual acts (as defined by The State of Kansas/US Federal regulation and law).
Slaves
-Must be at least 16 years of age.
-Must be out-of-character consenting to in-character slavery (player agrees to captivity).
-Must register with the Auction House (Dark Nobility Slave Trade) before being presented in the slave auction.
---Slave Auction registration will be at the Troll Booth for check-in. Please see one of our associates upon checking in at Troll to be given a "slave token." This token is your out-of-character agreement to participate in the slave auction. When met upon the trail, you may choose to engage in a battle with a mercenary/mercenaries. If they win the battle, you must present them with your slave token. At the appointed time, you must come to the Auction to be presented and sold. Your mercenary will retain 1/2 your price, with Dark Nobility Slave House retaining the remaining 1/2.
-Must discuss with the registration booth: “I understand that I am not bound or forced to perform acts that I am morally or ethically opposed to performing. All of my actions are my own responsibility, and I will hold myself responsible for any actions I make.”
-If a person offers himself as a slave, he will keep 50% of his selling price. 50% will be kept by the Auction House (Dark Nobility Slave Trade)
Mercenaries
Occasionally, it becomes necessary and proper to hire an armsman to bring in bodies. Large, small, weak, strong; all bodies net a proper price, and each brings pretty gold back to the captor. To inquire about being a hired mercenary, please send Mehran (Disraeli) a private message on the Midwest Dag Forums. Alternatively, send an email to theuniversedisraeli@live.com .
Merc Rules:
-If a potential captive resists capture, you must engage them in a battle. If you are successful, then you may take their slave token, their out-of-character agreement to participate in the slave auction. At the appointed time, you must present yourself at the slave auction to collect your pay. If you are present at the slave auction, you will receive 1/2 of the selling price of the slave/slaves you bring in. If you have a band, your 1/2 will be split among you -- the Auction House will only pay one lead-mercenary, as is right and proper. Dark Nobility Slave Trade will keep the remaining 1/2 as its own profit.
---If you lose the battle, you must return to your camp and wait the event rules-specified amount of time before returning to the slave hunt. Any disobedience of this rule will disqualify you from participating as a mercenary in the slave auction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who do I need to talk to about the Slave Auction?
Me! I'm Disraeli, the proud co-founder of Dark Nobility Slave Trade. I have all the information you could need about my little business.
When is the Auction? How long does Slavery last?
Information will be released at Troll when you sign in.
What do slaves do?
(Almost) anything they're told. Slaves can be used to get water from the tap, carry firewood, cook the food, clean the camp, or any number of things. It's a fairly long list, so I'll tell you what they can't do for you.
Slaves canNOT:
-Be forced to fight for the Buyer. The Auction is an off-field event, meaning that during battles, slaves will continue to fight for their own units/realms.
-Be forced to act in a salacious or sexual manner beyond their comfort level. "No" means no, fellow Dagorhirrim. Respect a man or woman's right to decline sexual favor, or I will hunt you down and burn your genitalia with a tiki torch.
How can I volunteer to be a slave?
Find Mehran/Disraeli when you arrive at the event and add your name to her list. If you cannot locate her earlier than that, present yourself at 15 minutes early of the appointed time to the registration booth for the Slave Auction. One of my aides will get you registered as necessary.
How can I capture a slave for $$$?
Send Mehran/Disraeli a PM. She has details.
