Alright kiddies - every year we rack our brains trying to decide the best course of action for Ragnarok. Last year, we rented a truck (and lord help me, I've been looking at rates for this year and don't even WANT to KNOW how much last year cost )
This year, I've decided to look at a much more permanent, cost-effective way to haul all our stuff (to put it nicely) back and forth to Cambridge without paying exorbitant rental fees, mileage fees (up to a buck per mile, it's 1600 to and from Cambridge.. you do the math!), etc. So I called my husband, curious if any of our farm relatives on his side happen to have a utility trailer we could commandeer this year.
Naturally.. I got his voicemail. So while waiting on an answer, I took it upon myself to check out craigslist.com to see what there was in the KC metro area, and lo and behold..

Granted, it's not huge by any standard, but to haul tents, weapons, shields, etc - it's pretty handy. It's not outrageously priced (I think it's farily modest, to be truthful) and it'd cost us a grand total of around $440 (depending on who were to register it)
The kicker is, if we can get hold of our non-profit organizational paperwork, we'd circumvent paying taxes on it at ALL. No sales tax, no yearly property taxes on it. If we all pitched in, this thing would literally pay for itself in one Ragnarok.
Just throwing the idea out there. Or if anyone else happens to know a guy who knows a guy who's got a trailer they won't need for a week (sides please! No flatbed trailers >.<) then hey, we save even more money. But right now we're looking nearly $900 to rent even a small truck - and that's including a 12% discount for Josh's AAA membership.
If anyone else has any ideas or brainstorms - hit me up at battle. I'm all about finding ways to cut costs this year. Especially with the gas prices that are going to just keep going up.
Also: Before I leave for work.. I found another, priced relatively closely and MUCH larger (nearly twice as big!) kansascity.craigslist.org/grd/651672947.html
Anyone else finds anything, please leave a URL or somethin' here - or PM me. Heck I'm willing to do all the leg work if we get enough interest and people willing to pitch in and make this happen.
