With Ragnarok approaching, I'm going to begin 'teasing' out key information about the day battles this year. Please disseminate this information across your local boards as well as at your practices.
First up -- new rules for how we're handling water and healers.
WATER:
In the past, the rule has been you are allowed to crawl through the water, always keeping at least one hand down in the water as well, as long as you are completely unarmored.
If you had any armor or brought one hand off of the ground, you were dead (drowned)
This year, there has been a tragic drought throughout the lands, and the water is not quite as deep as it once was. The rule for moving through water still applies only to completely unarmored fighters (armor makes you heavy and you get stuck in the muddy bottom, eaten by ravenous goldfish). However, you are no longer required to keep one hand down on the ground... thus you could wield a sword and shield, wield a red weapon, or shoot a bow while crawling through the water.
HEALING:
Healing will be used only in two battles as a scenario-specific rule. We will not be using the rules for healing supplied in the MoA, because for the sake of balance we need to be certain there is a precise number of healers on the field for each team.
Healers will be known as "combat medics" and will be designated with white headbands with a red cross on it. Healers are allowed to use any weapons or armor, and are allowed to fight just like any other warrior if they so wish.
A combat medic can only heal wounded limbs (cannot heal armor or shields). To do so, the medic will take a piece of white fabric (provided to them) a tie it around the wounded limb of the injured warrior. These 'bandages' heal that limb. Clearly, a combat medic will likely run out of white bandages (they'll start with about 40)... and when they do so they have completely lost their healing ability.
