I've nearly finished our Constitution. The foreword I have written shall be included but I wish to show it here to my realm mates so they may know my intentions before it is unveiled at Shieldmeet.
I would also like to thank Alo, Orrin, Raslin and Ilyia for the help you've provided. Not only have you had good ideas for this document you have always been true and loyally to me. Better friends and countrymen a man could never ask. May Celestia's peace surround you!
Foreword
Not everyone wishes to be in a very organized group. Some wish to have personal freedom and not be ruled over by others. This I understand well and good and agree. The only problem with having no structure is that the realm’s growth is stunted and problems can arise that cannot be handled assuredly in a fair and neutral manner (Though this can never be for sure, though it can be attempted at). This, as primary writer of this document, was what I had in mind when I set about on this task.
My main goal is to provide a fair and free realm for all my friends and future friends to participate in. I wanted to give all people interested in our realm or even fellowship a chance to do just that; be a part of a growing fellowship. For what are we but a large collection of friends and acquaintances? Hopefully my plans will allow for those who not only fight, but have other valuable skills, to be involved and their skills recognized as important in this fellowship. Often the people who grow beyond merely fighting and use their personal abilities for the betterment of their fellows are greater than mere fighters. These souls are often our heart and without their passion all we do is for naught (Might I add we wouldn’t last long as a group!).
My fear and the driving force behind this constitution was merely to protect my realm mates (truly my brothers and sisters) from harm. This could come from outside forces but my greater fear was, of course, internal strife. I also held fear of a dictator rising through the ranks through deceit and ruining our realm from the inside out. I have seen this occur in several other places. Personal liberty and freedom often takes a backseat to the tyrant’s desires for power and prestige. Though many start with good intentions power does often corrupt those who posses it. My goal is to police and control this and if at all possible head this undesirable possibility off at the proverbial pass.
So, if you become a citizen or official of the Republic of Ravenwood then remember, we are a group because we wish good will to everyone that comes into our fold. Have respect for your fellows and do your best to become their friend. Who would you rather have next to you in a battle; your friend or an untried person you’ve never taken the time to know? Who would you rather have watching over you; your friend or a stranger? Who would you rather watch over; your friend or a person you care not for?
In closing I only say this; ‘Success is not in the hands of men. All that we may do is our utmost. Then all that is left is to have true faith, for whatever end we reach we shall meet with honor and a smiling face.’
