youtube.com/watch?v=0aIcBrv5kVsNight fighting inside a ring of fire with drums pounding in background? Pure awesome. Ignore for the moment that the video's not *Dag* fighting---It still gives you ideas, doesn't it? I don't see how it could be done safely, though. It baffles me that none of them caught fire--wait, someone did, but they put him out. Perhaps with very, very strict garb rules (nothing loose) for this battle, and no loose hair, and weapons you don't mind accidentally losing to a fire...

the ring of fire can be done if you make a fire ring out of stone on a calm night and u regulate the hight of the fire. or u could make the ring out of a half a pipe and use alittle flamable substance enough for about 2 min worth of fire . dont light it until the participants are in the ring. lastly limmit the number of participants per round. then it might be possabl to do safely. oh and make sure that we have a way to put the fire out quickly

Yeah, I was thinking lots of buckets of water nearby--and like I said, STRICT dress rules so nothing loose catches fire (as someone with way too much hair, I've been warned enough about open fires and hair). As you can see in the video, they limited it to three--I would do more like two. The ground would have to be dirt or something. For putting stuff out, shovels+dirt is also a good idea.
...too bad my captain already said no x)

... when I get a house.. yanno, someday out in the countryside.. we will SO do this.
I would give anything for some uber coolness factor of "I fought inside a flaming ring of FIRE.. what did you do?"
"... I beat a cripple and a newb.."

I just realized I now know who Sidheag is. DOn't worry if you really want a ring of fire I has a bad reputation with it. =D We could work something out...
