I agree. Good weapons require very close attention to detail. ((Unfortunately, the sword had a flaw in the core and ended up breaking. Next time I will not waste my time on 80ga PVC.))

They only pass in endless adventures larp, but I am in the middle of building some Dagorhir Exclusive Weapons...I'll upload some pics as I build. I've built boffers for 6yrs and have made legal weapons for 3 different LRP/LARP's now and I love it! (Please someone challenge me to make the unbuildable...something that someone has had a hard time making a weapon legal, shield ect...Tell me of your weapon building woes, I need a new challenge!) ...blah, blah, as I babble! ;D

I wonder if you could get that sort of an edge with open cell foam. If you built up the sword as per Dag regulations... and then edged it with open cell, angled... it might pass.
Don't count my random thought as law though. I'd have to see it all together to see if it would be feasible.
*prods Oz to do this great foam crafting thing...*

Are you speaking of the pics above?...I'm in mid build of this particular Blue DBL sided Short sword as I type....DAP! DAp dAp..."(As I drool on myself while reaching for a bottle of Tylenol Quick Release Tabs after opening all the windows in the house so I can breathe Non-Dap contaminated oxygen.)

Nice armory there Kurodo. I wouldn't mind picking your brain about use of latex in foam smithing. Hopefully I will have my really nice blades when I come to Gates

Thanks! Latex is one way I have not tried yet...those are covered in duct tape.

I don't actually use Latex. I use Plastidip and mainly for covering the striking edges of my weapons to prevent blow outs because, maybe it's just us out here, most weapons in Mordor have a life span of 6 months TOPS. We just swing too hard for the foam I guess. I WANT to branch out and make VERY cool hilts, pommels, and crossguards using it as well though.

I use blue camp foam and 3/8" solid/round fiberglass rod. ...What is Plastidip?

It is a plastic substance that is used most commonly for putting that plastic coating on pliers handles and such. Kind of like a poor mans latex but without the drawbacks of it ( breakdown and such) I buy it at Harbour Freight. It's really nice

Sounds cool...Is it Legal for striking surfaces in Dag?

Don't see why not. It only adds a layer of protection to the surface. TECHNICALLY you can have duct tape on the striking edges just NOT on the outsides. As long as it is applied thinner than it comes in the can and in two coats or so it's not bad at all. I can show you at gates, or ask Kurai and Kye about it, they saw my swords and felt em (got hit by them). It's neat stuff

Yeah, they hit like a dream, hold up well and don't hurt more than any other weapon out there when it's cold
