I usually make my own, but I like making stuff. Not everyone does. So, at any rate, I have never used an ed hellen weapon because it seemed a waste of money. I could build 10 swords for the cost of one of theirs. And I do like my swords, they are spec. in almost every way. 12 oz, 1.25" blade, 3.25" width, 10.5" handle, 21.5" blade. And befre anyone says, "Wow, that sounds like a pixie wand," believe me, a 265lb farm boy who swung a 12lb maul growing up can swing a 12oz sword pretty dang hard. In fact, I used to used a 30 oz sword, but I really got tired of people complaining about it. WOW, rambling tangent! Sorry. My point is, I'll teach anyone to build a Dreadwood company sword. They are super cheap to build ($6-$8 one at a time, cheaper with bulk materials, and the design is easy to pick up. I'm happy to spread my foam tech. to any interested. Eventually I will make a video and post it. My camera dude is after some chica at the moment though.

I'm not trying to start Oi! 'Ew! Pink Skin!. I'm asking questions, dick. Thank the rest of you very much. You've been most helpful. I'll have weapons when I see you. I'm very curius as to why I got threatened with being banned for asking about these edhellen folks on the main Dag board. If it a touchy subject, could someone PM me about it? Thanks K

OK wow Kang, Calm down bro. No need to start the name calling. And you got threatened with the ban hammer because the founder of edhellen, and Dominus of Rome have some serious bad blood over the sport split.

I'm not trying to start poopies. I'm asking questions, dick. Be careful what you say please. Even a sarcastic comment that is meant only as a joke can seem offensive without voice inflection etc to go along with it and clarify. Irregardless, it didn't seem to nice to me. Any kind of offensive talk should be limited(i.e. name calling) You can tell someone your full-blown opinion as long as it is in reasonable terms. Like, for example; Hey, I think ed hellen weapons are sub par compared to; Hey, I think ed hellen weapons are sub par, you stupid f@#$. (this was not an insult to any person or ed hellen weapons, only an example) See, just a little name can change the intonation of a sentence drastically. Remember, only you can prevent board fires.

So are adults involved in this group, or is it just for kids? You guys are moderating this a little heavily. But it's your party, I'll play nice. I didn't feel like I did anything wrong. I called a guy a name becuase he was acting like a male member. Sheesh, I'm sooo sorry. I was nice to everyone who was helpful. I'm just looking for info here. I get 2, count em, 2 shits what some guys from back east are fighting about. I just wanted to know where to get weapons. Now I know. I also know that at some events there will be chodes who inspect weapons on their own terms. I know that this is apearently OK with Dagorhir members and there are plenty of nice folks who will loan me weapons should mine fail at an event I have drive very, very far to get to. That last bit makes all the other crap ok, so I'm happy. I can make or buy weapons. Get out with my freinds and fight and when we go to an event, we can be sure there will be weapons for us one way or another. As I said before, Thanks K

Get out with my freinds and fight and when we go to an event, we can be sure there will be weapons for us one way or another. As I said before, Thanks K NP but for real I wouldn't get to upset about moderation we just hate flame wars. ^_^" (Orrin is actually one of the friendliest people in these parts) Other than that we are pretty relaxed as far as dagorhir boards go. You will find most members if not all are very friendly and willing to help. Coming over from Bel to Dag you'll find it's a little bit more strict on safety compared to some other games. (Trust me I've tried 7 I think) As far as irregularity weapons checking goes, I would take that more with a grain of salt. Most of the time weapons are checked well and not crappy, no one would go to an event that is ran poorly. Checking standards are just a little different in areas because lots of small realms don't have vets guiding them through proper crafting. Not saying it's okay that people check weapons poorly but we are letting you know whats up if it does happen. We don't want you to shat brix when your gear fails. We want you to know there is going to be a standard and it could flux for better or worse. As you said it's your party I'll play nice. Unfortunately when it is their party we do hafta play nice. If not start your own party and invite as many friends as you want. I know if you stick around these boards it's really easy to make friends fast. Like I said we are really relaxed and fun loving people. Welcome to the Midwest Dagorhir Boards and I hope to see you contributing to even more threads as time goes on. -Skeith, the Forsaken

Kang, Will you be making it to Gates of Summer? I'm a member of the Dominion's Mercantile Guild, and I'm endeavoring to have some swords (and maybe a couple of axes (monetary situations willing) for sale. You can ask almost any weapons checker in the Dominion, I can make some really decent weapons, and I like to think I'm fairly reasonable on my prices...

. . .What I don't get is how you can have weapon checker using different standards. That's the lamest thing I've ever heard. I mean I understand the people are different, but rules are rules. K Having run Weapons Check for several major Dagorhir events, including the last two Ragnaroks, I can tell you with some degree of certainty that Dagorhir’s weapons are checked with great attention to objectivity and consistency. Our weapons are checked for construction & specs (typically using a machined template), as well as being run through a "hit" test. While admittedly the hit test is more subjective than the specs & construction, the hit test is still looking to see if a weapon is, “one that will not leave bruises, break bones or noses, or knock out teeth when an unarmored person is struck with a full-strength baseball bat style swing.” The criteria for passing these “checks” can easily be found on the Dagorhir website in the MoA. The rules are the same rules at every major Dagorhir event. The reason many Edhellen weapons may fail at one event and pass at another is because many of the weapons just barely pass Dagorhir specs, i.e. padding, blade width, weight, pommel size, etc. I can look at two nearly identical Keg swords, pass one and fail the other, because one may just barely fail for specs. If you want a “sure thing,” buy or make a sword that easily passes for specs. That being said, I still exclusively use Edhellen gear. P.S. If I check 1,000 blue swords at an event with 95% accuracy, I will have made bad decisions on 50 swords. Weapon checkers do the best they can. And by the way, no one who volunteers to be a “back” for red sword checking is a pussy.

You know, coincidentally, it just occured to me that Arc (however you spell his name) knocked out Kye's tooth with a two handed swing from a blue....Hmmm, might have to double check whatever sword that was....mah, whateva.

yup, and Tulkas just got his hand broken a week ago from a passing red (and in case you are wondering, it was an Edhellen red). That's why we're so anal about checking weapons.

Actually, Arc did not knock my tooth out, it was broken in half by daemon years ago, which was then crafted back into my mouth by a dentist, knocked out of my face at Ragnarok, after a spearman double greened me in the face, WHILE MY WEAPON WAS OVER MY HEAD, mind you. Arc nearly(blessedly) broke my nose swinging, twohanded, only overhead, like trying to be a helicopter in a sheild wall. blood went/was everywhere... the butthead. i talked to him afterwards, but he kinda seemed... like "sorry, i really didn't mean to, but stay out of the way when i'm swinging, and that won' t happen" kind of attitude. he didn't say that, but it was kinda the vibe i got. could be cause i was still pissed. but hey. i forgive i forget and i fight. life goes on, right? And Kang, this game is really fun, even though i have had my weapons stolen, and failed and broken, alot have broken... but mostly failed... >.<' even this last, War was it? Orrin lent me his sheild cause my own decided to utterly destroy itself... > And i didn't even catch his name until after i had borrowed the shield. getting to fight is not hard, whats hard is learning to not take what is said in/about/outside the game, seriously. (which by the way, you just lost the game >:3 ) I love the weapons i make myself, although keg swords and the such seem to be easier, at least for me, to use. All my weapons are hard as hell, (mostly due to the fact that i hit rather hard), and some are weighted, slightly balanced, or some other weird thing. btw, does anyone know how to stop a weapon from breaking if it is weighted? cause everytime i make on, it breaks right at where the blade and hilt join.
